1. Thinking so much about what you’re gaining, you forget what you may be losing
Often when thinking about or considering relocating many people will think so positively about what they will gain by going to the new city (which is good!) However the only down fall can be that psychologically we are often affected more by what we lose.

2. Not Considering the Commute
This happens often when moving to a new  city or even to a new neighborhood. Maybe you fell you have something that outweighs everything—the big house, the amazing job, whatever it may be! But if it comes with long or tough commute in order to get to where you need to go, or even places of convenience like the grocery store well, then the truth is you can’t have everything you want. Often times a rough commute can make you more unhappy than any of that stuff can make up for, what’s the point of an awesome house if you spend all your time trying to get there?!

3. Overlooking Key Research
Before moving everyone tends to do tons of research. If you are really determined you’ll look into every aspect of the city or neighborhood and be under the impression you know exactly  what I your getting into. Don’t forget it is kind of important to step foot in the city before you actually put down roots there!

Tips for preparing to relocate!

1. Are You Sure You Want To Move? Be sure you not only want to move but are ready to do so.  Many people want to move for the sake of moving.  If your reasoning is due to a new job, make sure you look at the opportunity costs.

2. Do You Know All the Costs? And we mean ALL the costs! Everything from the the actual move to what it will cost you to live day to day in your new home. There is more than just cost of living to consider there are always property taxes, state and local taxes and more. You don’t want to end up surprised!

3.Be Sure Your Family is on Board. This can be a big change for a family, big or small. If you receive their input and opinions early. It can make it go much smoother for everyone.
